Flash Flooding across the region

Storms late last week lead to some minor flash-flooding in parts of the region.

Thursday afternoon into evening saw a large range of lightning strikes & thunder, bringing with it scattered storms.

Officially overnight last Thursday, Mudgee recorded a rainfall total of 27mm, while a resident of Rylstone told our newsroom that 45mm has been recorded there, with minor flash flooding on some street.

The Mudgee SES say they were called to a number of jobs, including a range of roof & tree related tasks.

Gulgong DC Rural Fire Service were also called to reports of a tree fire at Stubbo, after the tree was hit by lightning. Crews report that the tree was well alight when crews arrived.

Meanwhile on Friday evening, southern parts of the region were again lashed with heavy rain & wind. Reports of water temporary blocking a number of roads were received, including the Castlereagh Highway near Aarons Pass.
