Mid-Western Regional Council will commence safety upgrades to a 10-kilometre section of Wollar Road after securing $3.5 million in grant funding through the NSW Government.

The three-year project will include road widening, pavement upgrades and further safety improvements to Wollar Road between Cooyal and Cumbo within the Munghorn Gap National Park.

General Manager Brad Cam says Council is committed to improving road safety across the region, saying that last year Council completed 25 kilometres in improvement works to the eastern areas of Wollar Road and we are now moving onto the Munghorn section.

He says that sadly, this section of road has seen numerous traffic incidents in recent years, including motor vehicle fatalities.

As part of the widening works, tree and vegetation clearing will be undertaken within the road reserve, those works are expected to take approximately three weeks.
