Mid-Western Regional Council will continue to work with young people in our community on topic such unemployment, health and entertainment opportunities through the continuation of its Youth Services Officer role.

KEPCO Bylong Australia have committed a further year’s grant funding toward the role that was flagged by the region’s young people as a desirable initiative at the 2016 Youth Forum.

KEPCO Bylong Australia Chief Operating Officer Bill Vatovec says that KEPCO is proud to support youth services in the local community.

Council’s General Manager Brad Cam said the role has fostered further face-to-face connections with youth in Mudgee, Gulgong, Kandos and Rylstone on a regular basis.

“We’ve introduced new initiatives such as the ‘How to Adult’ career and self-development workshops to support young job seekers as well as building partnerships established with local stakeholders, including Barnardos and Orana Arts,” Mr Cam said.

“This year, Council will be launching a Youth Services Directory, as well as host a Youth Employment Expo in May which will give local youth the opportunity to network with local businesses and employers and learn more about a variety of trades and industries, possibly even leading to careers in those fields.”
